About

Charlie (@chozzles) and Anna (@ajlobster) are revisiting Star Trek: The Next Generation. In a big way. And we've noticed that the clothes on that show are AMAZING. And not just 1987 amazing, or 24th century amazing, but BOTH, SIMULTANEOUSLY. We celebrate those fashions here.

From the Paley Center’s website:

Believe it or not, Star Trek: The Next Generationfirst beamed into our homes a quarter-century ago, on September 28, 1987, with “Encounter at Farpoint,” introducing us to not only a new ship and crew, but also an unforgettably endearing villain, the impossibly arrogant superbeing Q.
To celebrate that momentous occasion, the Paley Center in New York is devoting one of its TV Mixtapes screenings to “Dueling Star Treks,” in which we compare The Next Generationto the original series, illustrating our points through a deft selection of clips featuring memorable moments from both shows. Our conclusion (which you can take as seriously as you want): one show is clearly superior to the other. However, our lips our sealed, and the only way to find out the winner of our duel is to come to the Paley Center to watch the Mixtape.
Our TV Mixtapes screening also includes a full episode of The Next Generation that you yourself hereby have the opportunity to choose. Below you will find ten candidates for the best TNG episode of all time; cast your vote and then come to the Paley Center in New York next month to view the whole package: the episode you choose, plus highlights from the two series. This TV Mixtape starts screening September 1 at 2:00 pm.

HELL YES Y’ALL. The episodes in question are: The Measure of a Man Q Who Yesterday’s Enterprise (Dang, that’s an old entry.) The Best of Both Worlds II Darmok Unification II Cause and Effect The Inner Light Relics Tapestry
Now, I don’t want to influence your vote or anything, but Picard lives a whole life and learns to flute in The Inner Light. Also there are tie-dye shirts and terrifying old age makeup. But with these choices you can’t really go wrong, whatever you vote for. If you’re in NYC and planning to attend this event, I’ll see you there. I will almost certainly be wearing a jumpsuit.
